I really enjoyed chapters 1-4. They were very exciting. This book is about a girl named Meg, her younger brother, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O' Keefe traveling to find Meg and Charles Wallace's father. They have the help of Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. In the beginning of the book Meg is unliked by most everyone, and doesn't do well in school. She has very intelligent parents, but her dad went missing. He was a scientist who traveled a lot. Meg and her family used to travel with him, but they decided to settle down in a house. They would keep in touch with her father, but one day the letters stopped coming. Mrs. Murry asked the government what mission they had put her husband up to, but all the government would say was that he's on a secret and dangerous mission, and that she should be very proud of him, but he won't be able to communicate with you for a while. They would also say that they would give them news as soon as they had it. The postmisstress of the town they lived in would make cracks about their father leaving, and the whole town had their own wrong ideas, but most everyone believed that Mr. Murry had left Mrs. Murry and had run off with another woman.
When the Murry's communication with Mr. Murry stopped, this worried the whole family, especially Meg. She took it very hard. The only person that could really comfort her was Calvin O' Keefe. He told her that everyone who believed those nasty stories about Mr. Murry running off with another woman were completely wrong. He said that if they had one look at Mrs. Murry, they would know that no man would leave her(he said she was gorgeous). Calvin said that that's what jealousy can do to a person(make up all those bad rumors). Calvin also made Meg feel comfortable. The night that they had met Calvin, Calvin and Meg were dragged off by Charles Wallace, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. They were dragged off to another planet to help rescue Meg and Charles Wallace's father. They stopped off at another planet before going to the planet that Mr. Murry was trapped on. This planet was beautiful. It was like everything there never stopped, such as the mountains. This planet was called Uriel, the third planet of the star Malak in the spiral nebula Messier 101. At this planet, they figured out what Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Who were. They were beautiful white creatures, with wings and a man's head. Mrs. Whatsit showed them around the planet, and they saw what was keeping their father kept on the planet he was on. From their view, it looked like an evil shadow, and I think it is evil but more than just a shadow.
